To some people a BBQ is a long, slow, smoking process. But to me it is all about lighting a fire (preferably somewhere remote and far from home), waiting for the coals to glow, and throwing on anything from a lowly sausage to a piece of finest steak. Steve once cooked a whole chicken on a tiny camping BBQ, and Abi has been known to get up very early on holiday to but the freshest fish directly from the fishermen on their boats.

Over the years we’ve BBQ’d by rivers, on beaches, in canyons, on islands, at campsites and many, many times, in the garden. Here are a few snapshots of how we’re enjoyed what is perhaps the most relaxed way of cooking.
